Mission Senora de la Soledad

People and Daily Life

At my misson people who lived there were California Indians did farmwork, and buildings. Spanish priests taught religion, Spanish language, farming techniques, and Spanish culture. The men would farm and  take care of the animals while the women would cooked, sewed, gardened, made candle and soap. At sunrise, a bell rang to signal church services were begining. The native americans and catholic priests(Franciscans.missonaries) attended mass. After church the adults( California Indians) went to work. (plowing feilds, raising livestock, making bricks, making olive oil, making leather goods, made pottery, weaving, making wine). The children went to school to learn spanish language and the catholic religion.
